Reasons for female circumcision?

Female circumcision is a euphemism for female genital mutilation. It is a cultural practice with no religious basis done simply to deprive women of any sexual pleasure. At it’s worst it leaves women incontinent and at a hugely increased risk of death in childbirth.
It is most common in Africa but happens in the US and in Western Europe even though it is illegal in Western nations.
It is important to do everything possible to stop this practice wherever it occurs. It is important to educate those people who think it is a religious necessity that it has nothing to do with either Islam or Christianity.
